Christ Preparatory Academy is a University-Model school that intentionally partners with parents in their children’s education from kindergarten through 12th grade in a unique and intriguing way.
Kindergarten through second grade classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to to 2:35 p.m. Parents of students in these lower grades have an integral role as “co-teachers” in their partnership with the classroom teacher. While the classroom teacher is responsible for the content and pace of lessons, parents have the opportunity to be involved on Tuesdays and Thursdays as they introduce new information, provide individualized instruction, and/or review previously-taught material. Parents and students get a great introduction to the hybrid nature of the University-Model school that combines the best of the traditional 5-day school model of education with the best of the home school model.
Christ Prep’s 3rd to 12th grade classes also follow the University-Model, with parents co-teaching on Tuesdays and Thursdays as they partner with their children’s classroom teachers. As students progress through our middle school and high school, the parent role gradually changes as students become more independent and responsible for their own learning.
